Director of Glens Falls Ballet and Dance Center (1981), Founder of Adirondack Repertory Dance Theatre (1980), Founder of the Glens Falls Dance Company (1981).

Originally from Reading, Pennsylvania Carlene began dancing at the age of 7 and has had over 40 years of experience as a student, performer, choreographer, and instructor.

In 1979, Carlene graduated from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA where she had intensive training in Classical Ballet, Modern Dance, and Jazz Dance and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Additionally, Ms. Poster holds advanced certification from the Dance Notation Bureau of New York City.

During her 4 years at University of the Arts Ms. Poster studied with many distinguished dance professionals .

While still living in Philadelphia, Ms. Poster performed with the Philadelphia Dance Ensemble and was a scholarship student and dancer with the Philadelphia Dance Company (Philadanco) . Additionally, Ms. Poster organized and instructed the first dance education program to be implemented in the public school districts of Philadelphia.

Upon graduation, Carlene moved to the Glens Falls area and began teaching at the GLENS FALLS BALLET AND DANCE CENTER under the tutelage and directorship of Oleg Briansky prior to becoming artistic director of the school. She has since developed its quality training of ballet along with adding various genres of dance to enhance today's professional dancer.

The present facility consisting of 2 large studios, comfortable lobby, library, staff lounge , dressing room , showers, ample parking and handicap accessible!

Carlene has taught master classes for the cast of many perfo rming tours such as Seasame Street, Alvin & The Chipmunks, UP With People, and The Lake George Opera and presented lectures on dance notation at the National Museum of Dance in Saratoga Springs New York. In 1991, Carlene was recruited to critique rehearsals for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles U.S. Opening Tour

Many of Ms. Poster's students have been successful in their pursuit of professional dance careers and have been accepted into New York State Summer School of the Arts program, Boston Ballet Summer Program, Alvin Ailey Summer Program, School of American Ballet and have performed children's roles with New York City Ballet.
